​​At Mountain Creek State High School, we have two chaplains, Stu Cran and Tania Edwards. Our chaplains are an integral part of the school and work as a part of the student services faculty. 

Stuart has over 20 years experience working with young people in both the private and public sector. Leonie has over 20 years experience working with young people. She has experience in many different areas of youth work. 

Scripture Union (SU) Queensland chaplains:

  • Provides support in cases of bereavement, difficult family relationships, or other crisis and loss situations.
  • Provide emotional and social support for students.

  • Provide support and guidance in matters of religion, values and ethics.

  • Support students exploring their spirituality, regardless of the student’s faith or beliefs.

  • Participate in school activities such as camps, sports, induction programs, leadership programs, and school ceremonies.

  • Participate in and or facilitate holiday camps and activity programs. 

Chaplains work alongside other school staff and volunteers from the local community to: 

  • Community development with local businesses and the school.
  • Facilitate breakfast clubs, lunchtime groups and interest clubs.
  • Organise games and visiting bands.
  • Foster a supportive and caring school community.

Some of the programs that the chaplains facilitate at Mountain Creek State High School are:

  • Mentoring both one on one and group mentoring.
  • Lunch time programs, including Fusion, Christian student groups, visiting bands/ artists and Junior school activities.
  • Roadcraft defensive driving courses.
  • No Limits and Unlimited, potential enhancement programs.
  • Sunday Creek 3 day Treks.
  • Lifeline’s “Peer Skills” for our year 8 peer counsellors.
  • World Vision’s Global Leadership conference, 40 hour famine and VGen group.
  • Breakfast programs.
  • Holiday camps.
