Recent news of Mountain Creek State High School’s growing population and $22 million-dollar State Government Grant to build a new three story building, incorporating a collaborative STEM and robotics facility, has coincided with an array of local and international STEM related awards for students. Year 12 International Baccalaureate (IB) students Angharad G and Connor C have just been announced winners of the coveted Peter Doherty Awards for excellence in STEM in Queensland and will each receive a $5,000 prize. Travelling internationally in the recent school holidays on a twelve day full scholarship is Ainsley L on the STEM Global Citizens of the Future Study Tour to Tokyo, Japan. In December, Lauren V will travel on a fifteen day full scholarship to participate in the Queensland STEM program at Hiroshima and Kyoto, Japan. Travelling to Canberra in December is Amelia F who will take part in the 2018 National Youth Science Forum, following the pathway of Angharad G, a former participant in the program.
