IT updates

  • Check to ensure all updates have been completed on the laptop.
  • Students need "Administrator" access to their laptop for the initial connection to the school WiFi. If necessary, the student account can then be set to "Standard" after the connection process has been completed.
  • Windows laptops:
    • Check the student has a personal Microsoft Store account and is signed-in. This will ensure the Intune Company Portal app installs successfully.
    • Windows 10 S is not compatible with the network. You can upgrade this at home for free to make it compatible, please visit this link and register using the students school account - Windows 10 Education
  • Mac laptops:
    • After connection to EQNET, check the network settings to make sure the Auto Proxy Discovery box is ticked.
  • MCSHS strongly recommends students keep their laptops in their cases at all times to provide maximum protection to the device. It should be noted that the laptops remain the property of the student and their family and the school will bear no liability for any damage to the laptop, deliberate or otherwise, that may occur. With this in mind, we also strongly recommend that families confirm that their child’s BYOD laptop is covered under their Contents insurance and/or Accidental Damage insurance. Should damage occur, the school is not able to require any party to make good on damage regardless of the circumstances, nor are we able to provide the contact details of the families of the students involved.
